Submit a Resource to MHLIC

  • The Maternal Health Learning and Innovation Center aims to be an exceptional national resource center for eliminating maternal health inequities and improving well-being for all families in the U.S. Please help us build a national repository to support individuals, teams, and communities working towards improved maternal health care. Resources will be stored here on our website.

Please share your resource suggestion below. It is appreciated if you are able to complete as much of the form as possible, but some fields aren’t required.

    Email Suzannew@med.unc.edu with any questions.

  • We have categorized our repository of resources in to nine categories, with sub-categories to support various themes related to maternal morality and morbidity. Do you have a suggestion for a resource in one or more of these categories?
  • MHLIC would request permission to post this and any resource on our site. Do you know a contact person for this resource so an MHLIC team member can reach out about permission to share?
  • Please share any additional feedback or ideas you have as we build our national repository of maternal health learning resources.

Learning Institute Overview

April 11-13, 2023

The Maternal Health Learning and Innovation Center will convene 18 MHI and select RMOMS awardees for a Learning Institute from Tuesday, April 11 to Thursday, April 13, 2023. This two-day in-person event will include community-building, peer-led learning and exchange sessions, and a focus on applicable knowledge and skills.

The 2023 Learning Institute is designed for in-person attendees

This Learning Institute will emphasize in-person engagement with select opportunities for virtual team members to view presentations and/or join in smaller group conversations. We strongly advise in-person attendance as most sessions will not be recorded nor provided in a hybrid format.

  • The Learning Institute will be held in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. MHLIC will book rooms for attendees at the Courtyard By Marriott Chapel Hill.
  • Sessions will be held at the Friday Center across the street.

How does a Learning Institute differ from a traditional conference?

A Learning Institute differs from a traditional conference in several ways:

  • Learning occurs with team members rather than individually
  • Learning is active and immediately applied to challenges at hand
  • Learning is primarily from peers rather than external “experts”
  • Active learning support is provided

Who should attend?

We encourage awardees to attend with a team of 4 individuals. Presently, we are keeping a wait list of team members in excess of this original 4 and will likely be able to include more team members after all teams have registered.

How do we register and prepare?

Once your team has identified who will attend, we ask that each individual register here. Please be prepared to share your arrival and departure dates when you register. There will be an opportunity to indicate whether you want to be added to a wait list. Registration will close in early March.

In the month before the LI, teams will be asked to prepare and submit PowerPoint slides that MHLIC will format as a poster. We will print these posters to present at the Learning Institute as a means of orienting teams to one another and facilitating networking. More details to come following registration.

How do we make travel arrangements?

MHLIC will cover the cost of lodging for all participants and will make arrangements for hotel rooms directly. Your team should not make any hotel reservations on your own. Attendees will be responsible for air and ground transportation travel costs, as well as meal costs for any meals not part of the Learning Institute program. Leadership Academy Overview

April 13 – 14, 2023

This year, MHLIC will offer a Leadership Academy to support two members of each of the new (2022) MHI teams. The Leadership Academy will provide support for team leads to interactively reflect upon and build adaptable leadership skills with which to guide their teams. This is a kick-off for a 6-month cohort during which the group will convene virtually to continue developing leadership skills through interactive group work and introduction to tools.

Who should attend?

Two members from each of the new 9 (2022) MHI teams who have been identified as team leads. Ideally, these individuals will also attend the Learning Institute.

How do we register and prepare?

Individuals can register through the LI registration that will be shared in January. Pre-reading will be sent out in advance.

How do we make travel arrangements?

Please see above. These arrangements will be handled the same as for the Learning Institute. Click the button below to download the template letter for supervisory support.
