Skills sessions are designed to teach participants new skills, methods, and tools that they can apply to their maternal health work. These sessions should include interactive activities and time for participants to practice the skill or tool presented in the session.
These sessions are currently planned to be offered in person only.
Presenters can choose to submit a proposal for:
- 60-minute session
- 120-minute session
Skills sessions proposals will be reviewed for inclusion in the Symposium based on strength of the following factors:
- Ability of session content to contribute to building capacity among maternal health practitioners
- Balance of topics on Symposium agenda
- Inclusion of interactive activities
Example topics include:
- Use of tools to understand coalitions and systems (e.g., Appreciative Inquiry, System Support Mapping, Whole System Mapping)
- Engaging stakeholders (Provider, Community, and coalition-building engagement strategies)
- Systems Thinking Tools
- Strategic Planning
- Conflict Resolution
- Conversational Capacity
- Consensus Building
- Tools for advancing equity
