RMOMS/MHI ONLY: Mitigating Secondary Traumatic Stress
THIS IS A MULTI-DAY EVENT:
August 22-23, 2023 at 10:00 am ET each day
MHLIC is pleased to partner with The Center of Excellence for Children’s Behavioral Health to present “Mitigating Secondary Traumatic Stress: Signs & Symptoms, What’s Next?”, a 6-hour online training for MHI partners.
Secondary traumatic stress is the emotional duress that results when an individual constantly hears about the firsthand trauma experiences of another. STS presents symptoms identical to those of post-traumatic stress disorder except that exposure to a traumatizing event experienced by one person becomes a traumatizing event for the second person. Professionals that engage with traumatized populations are at an increased risk for experiencing secondary traumatic stress. This webinar will introduce participants to the similarities and differences between burnout, compassion fatigue, secondary and vicarious trauma and will offer information about how to identify these in themselves and others.
