  • The Maternal Health Learning and Innovation Center aims to be an exceptional national resource center for eliminating maternal health inequities and improving well-being for all families in the U.S. Please help us build a national repository to support individuals, teams, and communities working towards improved maternal health care. Resources will be stored here on our website.

Establish and convene an Illinois Maternal Health Task Force

  • Identify gaps in maternity care services in Illinois
  • Develop a strategic plan to improve maternal health outcomes in Illinois

Improve State-Level Maternal Health Data & Surveillance

  • Enhance data collection of the Illinois MMRC-V
  • Expand the efforts of SMM review in Illinois
  • Disseminate data findings about MM and SMM to major stakeholders, politicians, healthcare providers and the public

Promote & Execute Innovation in Maternal Health Service Delivery

  • Support Administrative Perinatal Centers to ensure their network hospitals are up to date on best practices related to maternal care
  • Support the Illinois Perinatal Health Quality Collaboration to develop a statewide birth equity initiative to reduce peripartum racial/ethnic disparities
  • Ensure that Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting and other home visitors are an active part of the maternal mortality solution in Illinois
  • Enhance the work of Illinois DocAssist to expand psychiatric consultation perinatal telehealth services
  • Implement a comprehensive Two Generation Medical Home Research and Training Center (Two-GEtHeR Center) and open a UI Health Two-Generation Clinic
